Campus Recreation Operations Assistant (Student Worker)

About the role

This Federal Work Study position supports the Morris Recreation Center at East Texas A&M University. As an Operations Assistant you will help maintain the cardio, track, and weight areas while providing excellent service to patrons.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce all campus recreation policies and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Assist patrons with equipment usage, technique, and spotting.
• Manage equipment checkout, locker assistance, and reception desk duties.
• Report maintenance needs and help set up facility reservations.
• Log equipment usage, track patron counts, and support the facility supervisor.
• Promote campus recreation events and act as a first responder in emergencies.

Required profile

• Current student eligible for Federal Work Study.
• Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Ability to pass a criminal history background check.
• Commitment to providing a welcoming and respectful environment.

Required skills

• Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certification (provided at no cost).
