Buyer II – Hardware (Defense Systems)

About the role

The Buyer II will manage the procurement of direct and indirect materials that support manufacturing operations for the Defense Systems Division. This position works closely with commodity leads, purchasing managers, and supplier quality engineers to secure the best total value while complying with FAR/DFAR regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Procure assigned commodities, including hardware, chemicals, goods, and indirect services.
• Negotiate price, delivery, and quality terms; place purchase orders based on verifiable justification.
• Develop and monitor supplier KPIs, manage supplier OTD and quality performance.
• Identify and qualify alternate sources to mitigate supply‑chain risks.
• Approve invoice exceptions and ensure compliance with governing procedures.
• Lead bid preparation efforts and support the Pricing department.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience in a high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing environment is desired.
• Strong understanding of FAR/DFAR requirements and supplier management.
