Budget Financial Accountant

About the role

The Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service is seeking a Budget Financial Accountant to support its extensive agricultural programs. This role will handle day‑to‑day budget transfers, fee‑based program accounting, and federal award funding applications.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process daily budget transfer entries and monthly fee‑based program accounting entries.
• Analyze agency leave accounts, reconcile federal and state accounts, and manage year‑end closing entries.
• Collaborate on the agency’s annual budget, extracting and reconciling data from Workday and PBA.
• Assist with federal appropriation and award funding applications, including review of expenditures and encumbrances.
• Process salary savings forms, reconcile funds, and monitor payroll queues in Canopy.
• Upload monthly FAMIS entries for credit‑card and service fees linked to AgriLife Learn and Register platforms.
• Set up, monitor, and close state, local, and federal cost‑share accounts.
• Create and maintain Business Objects templates and reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (or equivalent education/experience).
• At least two years of relevant accounting or budget experience.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Workday budgeting module.
• Experience using PBA for budget reconciliation.
• Familiarity with FAMIS upload processes.
• Knowledge of Canopy payroll correction workflow.
• Ability to create and schedule Business Objects reports.
• Competence with standard word processing and spreadsheet applications.
