Booth Officer – Campus Security

About the role

The Booth Officer serves as the welcoming face of Pepperdine University’s Malibu campus, providing courteous assistance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors while safeguarding the campus entrances against potential security threats.

Key responsibilities

• Provide information, directions, and excellent customer service to anyone seeking access to campus.
• Identify and report safety hazards in accordance with university protocols.
• Monitor the License Plate Recognition (LPR) system to prevent prohibited vehicles from entering.
• Maintain awareness of individuals banned from campus and take appropriate action.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department of Public Safety.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with a pleasant disposition.
• Ability to maintain confidential information, exercise sound judgment, and work independently.
• Knowledge of law‑enforcement and public‑safety protocols, crowd control, traffic enforcement, and relevant local, state, and federal laws.

Required skills

• Familiarity with License Plate Recognition (LPR) systems.
