Board Certified Physician – Georgia Regional Hospital

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Board Certified Physician to join the Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta (GRHA). This full‑time position provides comprehensive medical care to patients in adult mental health, forensic services, and developmental disabilities programs.

Key responsibilities

• Examine patients, take histories, order labs, X‑rays and other diagnostics.
• Diagnose conditions and prescribe appropriate treatments, medications, vaccinations, and therapies.
• Coordinate care with nurses, social workers, therapists, pharmacists, psychologists and other health‑care providers.
• Supervise and direct nurses, aides, medical assistants, and other staff in patient care.
• Refer patients to specialists when necessary and provide emergency medical care.

Required profile

• Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board.
• Licensure or eligibility to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
• Board eligibility or board certification in a relevant specialty.
• Ability to pass a national and state background check as required by law.
