Bakery Operations Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Bakery Operations Manager to lead the daily operations of our high‑volume bakery in Phoenix. The role combines hands‑on production oversight with team leadership, inventory control and strong relationships with supermarket partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of bakers and confectioners, providing training, coaching and performance feedback.
• Conduct hiring, onboarding and staff development activities.
• Run daily briefings to align goals and improve productivity.
• Order stock, liaise with suppliers and manage inventory using FIFO principles to avoid stockouts and expired products.
• Oversee hygienic preparation, baking and display of the product range while maintaining bakery cleanliness.
• Determine daily product mix and volumes based on demand.
• Calculate product costs and set competitive selling prices.
• Maintain professional relationships with supermarket store managers and in‑store bakery managers, addressing feedback promptly.
• Monitor quality, minimise waste and achieve sales targets.
• Resolve customer complaints, approve invoices, sign off timesheets and manage duty rosters.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (mandatory); Diploma or Degree in Food Technology, Baking & Pastry Arts, Hospitality Management or Business/Operations Management preferred.
• 5+ years of bakery production experience, including at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience in a plant or commercial bakery environment and familiarity with retail supply chains.

• Food Safety & Hygiene certification.
• HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) training.
• Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) certification.
• First Aid / Fire Safety training.
