Backend/AI Engineer

About the role

Reducto is building an agentic document platform that powers AI teams to process unstructured data at scale. As a Backend/AI Engineer you will own the core API that parses documents for hundreds of enterprise customers, integrating cutting‑edge large language models and optimizing the processing pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate and optimise LLM calls for structured extraction, form filling and document understanding.
• Improve API design and pre‑processing algorithms such as chunking and structured extraction based on customer feedback.
• Build and scale document processing pipelines handling PDFs, spreadsheets and other formats.
• Experiment with new techniques to boost LLM accuracy and reduce latency.
• Develop internal tooling and evaluation frameworks to analyse failure cases.
• Collaborate directly with founders and customers to shape product direction and engineering strategy.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience building production applications and integrating LLMs.
• High personal standards, fast shipping mindset and strong sense of ownership.
• Quantitative, data‑driven approach to product development and debugging.
• Comfortable working across the full development lifecycle from ideation to release.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Experience with LLM APIs and prompt engineering.
• API design and development.
• Document processing (PDF, spreadsheet) pipelines.
• Rapid prototyping tools such as Streamlit.
