Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Castle is building a payments infrastructure for homeowners to automate, consolidate, and reduce home‑related spend. As a Backend Software Engineer you will work closely with the Head of Engineering, Head of Design, and fellow engineers to create a user‑friendly app that simplifies complex home expense management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain REST APIs using Django.
• Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure.
• Oversee CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
• Build mission‑critical features such as a bill payment system for ACH and check payments, an AI‑powered system for recording external payments, and a data pipeline that transforms customer data into insights.

Required profile

• Expertise with Python and the Django framework.
• Strong background in RESTful API design.
• Experience designing distributed systems.
• Proven experience with cloud infrastructure and related tools.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools and practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Track record of building and shipping production applications.
