Job description

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an MQ-9 CLS Avionics Technician I in Yuma, Arizona. The technician is a qualified aircraft electronics and Ground Support Station specialist who troubleshoots multiple electronics systems on both aircraft and control stations. Local candidates are strongly preferred because relocation assistance is not provided; non-local candidates must relocate independently and immediately at their own expense. The position is contingent on availability.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain assigned UAS electrical and computer systems, including relays, batteries, actuators, circuit breakers, switches, instruments and peripherals.
  • Solve complex problems that cannot be resolved by manufacturer manuals alone, such as locating circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions and applying engineering changes.
  • Use complex test instruments such as high-frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers and computer control equipment, and exercise independent judgment in circuit analysis, waveform calculation and signal-flow tracing.
  • Prioritize workload to meet the daily flight schedule, keep aircraft logs and records, and attend shift-change maintenance meetings.
  • Work with Production Staff and Avionic Leads, sign off work in OOMA/NALCOMIS, and follow CNAFINST 4790.2.
  • Maintain, repair and install electronic equipment, and use common and complex test instruments.

Required profile

  • Active Secret US Government clearance (US citizenship required); eligible for Top Secret with SCI.
  • At least one year of actual aircraft avionics and/or Ground Control Station maintenance experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent military and/or vocational training.
  • IAT Level II certification (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, Security+ CE, SSCP or GSEC) within 90 days of hire or before the second deployment, per DOD 8570.01-M.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment over 50 pounds, work nights and weekends, and speak, read and write English.
  • Updated SF-86 submitted within 30 days of hire and a current driver's license.

Required skills

  • Advanced knowledge of electronics maintenance and repair, RFF systems, and technical publications.
  • Blueprints, wiring diagrams and data tables.
  • Knowledge of engine, flight-control and electrical/electronic principles.

Preferred qualifications

  • Current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Associate degree in a relevant field.
  • Current IAT Level I certification.
  • Prior defense contractor experience.

What we offer

  • Hourly, overtime-eligible pay of $31.53 under the Service Contract Act, with possible health and welfare payments.
  • Health, dental and vision insurance, paid time off and holidays.
  • Retirement benefits including 401(k) matching, educational reimbursement, parental leave, employee stock purchase plan, and disability and life insurance.
