About the role
Bureau Veritas is seeking a motivated individual to join its inspection team for metal fabrication and pressure‑vessel projects in Baton Rouge. The role can start as a trainee and progress to a fully credentialed Authorized Inspector, offering hands‑on experience with ASME and National Board standards.
Key responsibilities
- Performs ASME and National Board shop and field inspection services at assigned clients, including review and verification of code‑required activities and witnessing required tests.
- Monitors client quality‑control systems for compliance with relevant codes and requirements.
- Documents all inspection activities per established policies.
- Ensures compliance with ASME Code, National Board Inspection Code, and jurisdictional requirements for construction and repair of boilers and pressure vessels.
Required profile
- Minimum 4 years experience in nuclear reactors or boiler and pressure‑vessel industry (design, welding, fabrication, operation, repair, inspection, NDE, or quality‑control oversight). A STEM BS/AS degree, CWI or technical certificate may substitute for 2 years of experience.
- High school diploma.
- Completion of a 2‑week Bureau Veritas preparatory training on ASME Sections I, IV, V, VIII, IX, and B31.1.
- Ability to obtain a National Board Authorized Inspector Commission with “R” endorsement (requires 72‑hour and 32‑hour courses, two exams, and 80‑hour on‑the‑job training) or already hold the commission.
Required skills
- Knowledge of ASME Code sections I, IV, V, VIII, IX and B31.1.
- Knowledge of National Board Inspection Code.
- Ability to read, write and speak clearly, use a computer and perform basic arithmetic.
- Understanding and interpretation of boiler and pressure‑vessel codes.
