Auditor – Internal Oversight Services (Full‑time)

About the role

The Auditor will join the Headquarters Audit Section of the Internal Audit Division at the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) in New York, reporting to the Chief of Section. The role involves leading and executing risk‑based audits of large, complex UN operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead audits and special reviews, allocate tasks, monitor resources and consolidate results.
• Prepare risk‑based audit plans, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with OIOS standards throughout all audit phases.
• Document, evaluate and test systems and controls for adequacy, effectiveness, and compliance.
• Develop findings, recommend corrective actions, and monitor implementation of audit recommendations.
• Prepare audit reports, presentations and brief senior management and the General Assembly.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in business administration, finance, accounting or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum seven years of progressive audit experience, including public‑sector auditing and data‑analytics work.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CA, CIA, CFE or CISA are desirable.
• Fluent in English; additional language (French, Chinese, Spanish, Russian or Arabic) is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with data‑analytics tools: IDEA, ACL, Excel (including advanced functions).
• Experience with audit software such as TeamMate.
• Ability to use presentation tools (PowerPoint) for reporting audit results.
• Strong knowledge of auditing standards, financial rules and procedures.
