Attorney - Judge Advocate

About the role

The U.S. Marine Corps is recruiting qualified attorneys to serve as active‑duty Judge Advocates. As a uniformed legal officer, you will provide counsel across a wide range of military legal matters, supporting national security operations worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct criminal and civil litigation on behalf of the Marine Corps.
• Advise commanders on international affairs, administrative law, and operational legal issues.
• Participate in investigations, prosecutions, and defense of service members.
• Provide legal guidance for policy development and compliance.
• Maintain physical fitness and leadership standards required of all Marine officers.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school (or currently pursuing).
• Under 41 years of age.
• Ability to meet Marine Corps physical fitness standards.
• Law school transcript required if less than three years of practice.
