Asylum Services Navigator

About the role

The Asylum Services Navigator supports asylum seekers and other migrants as they move through the U.S. asylum system and connect with essential services. Working within the International Rescue Committee, you will provide culturally sensitive assistance, conduct client intakes, and help individuals access housing, healthcare, legal aid, and public benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive intake interviews to gather background, legal status, and needs.
• Determine eligibility for program services and explain client rights and responsibilities.
• Provide up‑to‑date information on the asylum process and available resources.
• Develop individualized service plans and coordinate referrals to appropriate providers.
• Assess immediate safety or health concerns and flag them for crisis response teams.
• Collect and maintain accurate client data in the electronic database.

Required profile

• Compassionate, culturally sensitive, and able to build rapport with diverse clients.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience conducting client interviews and assessments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic case management databases.
