Associate – Residential Mortgage Finance (CIB)

About the role

The Residential Mortgage Finance Associate will join Santander’s Securitized Products Group, supporting the origination, analysis, structuring, underwriting and portfolio management of financing solutions for mortgage‑related clients. The role focuses on residential mortgage loan financing, mortgage servicing rights financing and related credit products.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze residential mortgage collateral, loan tapes and eligibility, monitor concentration limits and portfolio performance trends.
• Review underwriting guidelines and evaluate client origination programs, financial statements, liquidity, leverage and operating metrics.
• Support underwriting, structuring, approval and ongoing management of financing arrangements, preparing credit memoranda and client presentations.
• Conduct due‑diligence on mortgage originators, servicers and aggregators, and assess loan performance including delinquencies, prepayments and defaults.
• Monitor borrowing collateral, covenant compliance, margining and facility utilization.
• Coordinate with internal risk, legal, compliance, operations, treasury, finance and audit teams as well as external stakeholders such as clients and third‑party diligence firms.
• Track residential mortgage market trends, interest‑rate movements and agency/non‑agency lending developments.

Required profile

• Strong analytical capabilities with experience in credit, collateral and transaction execution.
• Understanding of residential mortgage lending, mortgage company finance and associated risk considerations.
• Ability to evaluate financial statements, liquidity, leverage and operating metrics of mortgage clients.
• Experience preparing internal credit memoranda, transaction summaries and client presentations.
