Associate or Full Professor & Department Head - Art

About the role

East Texas A&M University is seeking an Associate or Full Professor to serve as Head of the Department of Art. This senior, tenured faculty position provides strategic leadership for the department’s Visual Communication, Studio Art, and Art Education programs across the Commerce and Dallas campuses.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive assessment of departmental programs, enrollment trends, and resource utilization.
• Develop and implement a strategic plan that enhances regional impact, community partnerships, and academic pathways.
• Provide operational and academic oversight, ensuring alignment across multiple locations.
• Support faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Promote student success through curriculum innovation, mentorship, and outreach.
• Represent the department in regional and institutional initiatives, building external partnerships.

Required profile

• Tenured or tenure‑track Associate or Full Professor in Art, Visual Communication, Studio Art, or Art Education.
• Proven leadership experience in higher‑education administration.
• Record of scholarly and creative achievement.
• Ability to manage multi‑campus programs and develop strategic plans.
