Associate Human Resources Officer

About the role

The Associate Human Resources Officer supports managers and staff on HR matters within the United Nations Common Administrative Platform at Headquarters. Reporting to the Chief of Unit, the role contributes to recruitment, onboarding, entitlement administration and data‑driven HR analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice and support on recruitment, placement, promotion and onboarding processes, including signing job offers and preparing cases for appointment bodies.
• Supervise Human Resources Assistants in processing contracts, onboarding clearances, separations and entitlement approvals in ERP systems.
• Administer salary, benefits, travel and other entitlements, interpreting UN staff regulations and recommending exceptions where needed.
• Design and conduct entitlement monitoring, produce reports and visualisations for decision‑making.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public administration, business administration, HR management or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum two years of progressive HR experience, including administration of entitlements and use of ERP systems.
• Knowledge of UN Staff Regulations, HR policies and ability to analyse HR data for strategic insights.

Required skills

• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP (UMOJA) or equivalent.
• Familiarity with Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
• Ability to create data visualisations (charts, graphs, tables) for reporting.
