Associate Director of Philanthropy

About the role

The Associate Director of Philanthropy will join the Philanthropy & Engagement team at Texas A&M University‑Commerce, overseeing a portfolio of major‑gift prospects and donors. This senior fundraising role focuses on cultivating alumni and friends to secure outright and planned gifts that support the university’s strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a personal portfolio of 75‑100 major‑gift prospects (donations of $25,000 or more).
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with alumni, friends, and other donors.
• Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies for assigned prospects.
• Collaborate with university divisions, colleges, and priority programs to align gifts with strategic plans.
• Maintain accurate prospect records and reporting in accordance with university policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in major‑gift fundraising, preferably in higher education.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a large donor portfolio and achieve fundraising targets.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building donor relationships.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Commitment to the university’s mission and values.
