Associate Director, Institute

About the role

The Associate Director, Institute provides strategic and operational leadership for the Borlaug Institute, overseeing daily operations, fostering global partnerships, securing funding, and advancing international research and education initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Deputy Director, representing the Director when absent.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations, including staff oversight, proposal review, and financial budgeting.
• Lead external relations with USAID, USDA, State Department, NGOs, embassies, corporations, media, foundations and universities.
• Coordinate international research and teaching exchanges with faculty across the university system.
• Deliver lectures and instruction on international protocols, nutrition, poverty, global affairs and cultural competencies.
• Identify and develop partnerships, secure funding, and support global projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• At least eight years of related experience.
• Ability to handle confidential and time‑sensitive matters.
• Superior organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
