Assistant/Associate Professor – Anatomy (Tenure‑Track)

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a full‑time, 12‑month tenure‑track faculty member as Assistant or Associate Professor of Anatomy. The role involves developing and delivering anatomy instruction for the DVM curriculum and contributing to scholarly activity, student mentorship, and accreditation support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver professional‑level courses and laboratory sessions in gross anatomy, histology, embryology, and comparative vertebrate anatomy for the DVM curriculum.
• Integrate clinical correlations and active‑learning strategies such as team‑based learning and digital anatomy tools.
• Design course objectives, assessments and evaluation tools aligned with program competencies.
• Prepare, administer and grade written and practical examinations.
• Oversee anatomy laboratory operations, including cadaver procurement, safety compliance and specimen preparation.
• Participate in curriculum integration, scholarly activity, student mentorship and service to support AVMA COE accreditation.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or equivalent in anatomy, veterinary anatomy or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated ability to teach anatomy to veterinary students at the professional level.
• Commitment to scholarly research, curriculum development and service.
• Eligibility for tenure‑track appointment at a US university.

Required skills

• Expertise in gross anatomy, histology, embryology and comparative vertebrate anatomy.
• Experience with active‑learning pedagogies and digital anatomy resources.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety and cadaver handling procedures.
