Assistant Teacher – Early Learning Center

About the role

The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher at the Georgetown Law Early Learning Center, providing daily care and educational activities for young children. Working on the Georgetown Law campus, the role helps families affiliated with the university and the broader community.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing age‑appropriate activities that promote learning and development.
• Support children during classroom routines, outdoor play, meals, and nap times.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about each child’s progress and daily experiences.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging environment, including lifting and moving supplies up to 40 lb.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with the Director of the Early Learning Center.

Required profile

• At least 18 years of age.
• Associate’s degree (or higher) in any field, OR a high school diploma with a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, OR a high school diploma with certification in early childhood and a commitment to obtain a CDA by December 2023.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility, reliability, and empathy.
• Clearances: criminal background check, child protection registry, drug/alcohol testing, and any additional OSSE or university requirements.
• Physical ability to lift/carry up to 40 lb and work outdoors in temperatures ranging from 32 °F to 90 °F.
