Assistant Swim Designer – Fashion Company

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Swim Designer to join a leading fashion house in New York City. The role focuses on creating commercially viable swimwear designs that align with the brand’s concept and business strategy, while supporting senior designers throughout the product development cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop brand‑right, commercial swim designs that reflect seasonal concepts and business goals.
• Produce detailed tech packs, sketches, and prototypes, ensuring accurate construction, drape, and finish.
• Update BOMs and linesheets in Centric, collaborating with Color & Print, Product Development, and merchandising teams.
• Conduct trend research, competitor analysis, and source new ideas both internally and externally.
• Present designs to internal leaders and cross‑functional partners.
• Mentor and inspire junior design talent while maintaining budget and timeline commitments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Design or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of design experience in a retail or fashion environment.
• Strong commercial fashion eye with attention to detail in styling, fit, and performance.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Creative Suite.
• Experience with Centric (preferred).
