Assistant Store Manager – Self Storage

About the role

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager, Area Manager, and District Manager to achieve store goals, enhancing sales, customer acquisition, and vendor relationships. The role involves collaborating with the team, executing projects, and ensuring a positive customer experience in a self‑storage facility.

Key responsibilities

• Support the team in surpassing sales targets by promoting unit rentals, warranties, moving supplies and encouraging positive online reviews.
• Guide new customers through the rental process and confirm moving dates to ensure units are ready and secure.
• Manage past‑due tenant accounts and assist with lien/auction paperwork.
• Conduct daily property inspections, checking locks, cleaning units, stocking supplies and performing light maintenance tasks.
• Perform light gardening, use power tools for general maintenance, and apply cleaning chemicals as needed.
• Communicate updates, results and recommendations clearly to the Store Manager and leadership team.
• Provide backup support for the Store Manager and be available for occasional travel to nearby locations and weekend/holiday shifts.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in storage, retail or hospitality.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Customer‑service mindset with the ability to resolve conflicts quickly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to identify maintenance, safety and fire issues and operate roll‑up doors.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for scheduled shifts.
