Assistant Service Supervisor – Suffolk County

About the role

This position performs technical and mechanical work that ensures the physical aspects of the buildings, grounds, amenities, and common areas meet Greystar’s standards for cleanliness, appearance, safety, and overall functionality.

Key responsibilities

• Complete work orders from resident service requests and perform preventative maintenance, diagnosing defects and repairing according to policies, safety standards, and code requirements.
• Manage the “make‑ready” process for vacant apartments, including inspections, punch‑list creation, vendor scheduling, supply procurement, maintenance tasks, and final inspections.
• Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment, tracking usage and notifying supervisors of re‑order needs.
• Perform general grounds and common‑area upkeep such as trash removal, pressure‑washing, cleaning, and painting of curbs and signage.
• Inspect contractor and vendor work to verify quality, scope, and compliance with specifications.
• Participate in safety meetings, complete OSHA training, and promptly report accidents or incidents.

Required profile

• Adheres to Greystar’s safety and risk‑management policies, attending routine safety meetings and completing required training.
• Capable of working flexible schedules, including on‑call duties during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physically able to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, lift up to 25 lb independently (50 lb with assistance), and work in all weather conditions.

Required skills

• EPA Type I, Type II or Universal certification for refrigerant recycling.
• Valid driver’s license (required to operate a golf cart where applicable).
• Proficiency in using maintenance tools, equipment, and inventory tracking systems.
