Assistant Residential Manager

About the role

Catholic Charities of Long Island is seeking an Assistant Residential Manager to support the care of developmentally disabled adults in group homes. You will work closely with the Residence Manager to ensure person‑centered services, regulatory compliance, and smooth daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise Residence Counselors, schedule staff and maintain 24/7 coverage.
• Develop, implement and document Individual Service Plans with residents.
• Communicate with families and provide status reports in the manager’s absence.
• Perform hands‑on duties such as transporting residents, providing direct care, and handling household maintenance.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED (Associate’s Degree preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on caregiving experience in the OPWDD developmental disabilities field.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Valid NYS driver’s license and ability to work a flexible schedule.

Required skills

• Ability to perform physical tasks including stooping, crouching and two‑person lifts up to 250 lb.
• Capability to maintain personal safety and respond calmly during resident outbursts.
