Assistant Project Manager – Heavy Highway & Infrastructure

About the role

The Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager supports construction project teams on heavy highway and infrastructure projects ranging from $250,000 to $10 million. The role involves coordinating resources, managing project performance, and ensuring profitable project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage overall project performance including scope, safety, quality, schedule, cost and customer satisfaction.
• Set up job cost codes, budgets and code invoices; prepare construction schedules and monitor quantities for pay estimates.
• Review supplier and subcontractor quotes, order materials via the company PO system, and expedite change‑order work.
• Attend pre‑construction, project and staff meetings; create RFIs and ensure timely submission of project reporting (submittals, progress, minority reports, etc.).
• Oversee project paperwork such as certifications, liens, bonds and ensure thorough project closeouts.
• Lead an assistant project manager and 1‑2 project engineers, fostering their skill development.

Required profile

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management with 2+ years field management, engineering or estimating experience in heavy civil structures (bridges, culverts, road reconstruction, etc.).
• Minimum 5 years managing heavy/highway/civil projects with governmental contracts preferred.
• Ability to travel locally for pre‑bid conferences, site visits and bid reviews.

Required skills

• Software: Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, HCSS HeavyJob, Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6, Foundation, AutoCAD.
• PennDOT ECMS system experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
