Assistant Professor of Social Work – Tenure-Track (2 positions)

About the role

The School of Social Work invites applications for two tenure‑track Assistant Professor positions starting August 2027. These are nine‑month, full‑time faculty appointments focused on teaching, research, and service. The role is in‑person and includes both face‑to‑face and online instruction, student mentorship, and active participation in departmental governance.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate social work courses, delivering content both in‑person and via online platforms.
• Conduct original research, publish findings, and secure external funding.
• Mentor and evaluate students, develop curricula, and lead classroom instruction.
• Engage in community partnerships and interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance research impact.
• Provide academic service through committee work, student advising, and professional organization involvement.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Social Work or a closely related field (ABD acceptable if completed before start date).
• Eligibility for social work licensure in Arkansas.
• Demonstrated potential for high‑quality university teaching and a sustainable research agenda.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Learning Management System (LMS) platforms for course delivery.
• Experience using synchronous video‑conferencing tools for online instruction.
