About the role
The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is expanding and seeks an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology. The faculty member will focus on regional anesthesia and acute pain management, providing patient care, teaching, and scholarly activities.
Key responsibilities
- Perform and supervise a full range of peripheral and neuraxial nerve block techniques.
- Manage acute and acute‑on‑chronic pain patients in an inpatient setting.
- Supervise residents, fellows, and medical students during clinical rotations.
- Participate in departmental teaching, mentorship, conferences, and faculty meetings.
- Provide on‑call coverage one week per month, including one weekend, with duties performed from home when appropriate.
Required profile
- Completion of a US‑approved Anesthesiology residency (or equivalent).
- Board eligibility or certification in Anesthesiology.
- Fellowship in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management or substantial experience in the field.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Required skills
- Peripheral nerve block techniques (e.g., cervical plexus, interscalene, supraclavicular, infraclavicular, axillary, elbow, wrist, femoral, adductor canal, fascia iliaca, subgluteal sciatic, lateral popliteal sciatic, IPACK, TAP, rectus sheath, PEC1, PEC2, ESP, stellate ganglion).
- Neuraxial block techniques.
- Catheter placement for continuous nerve blocks.
- Acute pain management in inpatient settings.
