About the role
The Department of English at the University of Arkansas seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor specializing in Early Modern British Literature, beginning August 2027. This nine‑month, in‑person appointment involves teaching, research, and service within a vibrant research‑intensive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Teach two courses per semester, including Introduction to Shakespeare and potentially graduate‑level early modern literature courses.
- Maintain an active research agenda that contributes to the university’s research mission and leads to a strong publication record.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including committees, reading groups, and conferences.
Required profile
- Terminal degree in English or a closely related field by the start date.
- Evidence of an active or developable research agenda and a record of effective undergraduate teaching.
- Ability to design and teach introductory Shakespeare courses for English majors and English Education majors.
- Preferred: clear research plan, experience developing graduate and undergraduate courses, and interest in interdisciplinary collaborations.
