Assistant Professor – Cultural Anthropology (Tenure-Track)

About the role

The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology to begin in August 2027. The position focuses on Middle‑East cultural anthropology and will expand undergraduate and graduate curricula.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including History of Anthropological Thought and two Middle‑East‑focused courses each year.
• Maintain an active research program on cultural anthropology of the Middle East, involving students.
• Participate in departmental service, such as committee work and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in anthropology completed by May 31 2027.
• Active research program focused on cultural anthropology of the Middle East.
• Record of scholarly publications and, preferably, external funding.
• Teaching experience as instructor‑of‑record at the college level.
