Assistant Head Chef – Day Shift (No Nights/Weekends)

About the role

The Assistant Head Chef supports the Head Chef in running a high‑volume school commissary kitchen. This full‑time, day‑shift role prepares meals for 300‑500 students each day, with a teacher‑style schedule and weekends off.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute daily preparation of breakfast, lunch, and snacks for 300‑500 students while maintaining recipe consistency.
• Assist with production schedules, inventory management, and consumption tracking in partnership with the Head Chef.
• Ensure the kitchen meets Department of Health standards, monitor temperatures, and uphold food‑safety and sanitation protocols.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of professional culinary experience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume kitchen.
• Associate degree in culinary arts (preferred) and a Food Handler’s Certification (or obtain within 90 days).
• Strong communication skills, highly organized, and passionate about improving school nutrition.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, as is familiarity with NSLP compliance.
