Assistant Director for Math Learning & Innovative Teaching

About the role

The Assistant Director will lead the Center for Math Learning and Innovative Teaching (CMLIT) to improve success rates in gateway mathematics courses. This position combines strategic leadership, faculty development, and direct instruction to drive measurable gains in student achievement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Center’s vision, mission and annual goals while overseeing daily operations.
• Design and facilitate the annual fall boot‑camp and ongoing faculty development workshops.
• Coordinate entry‑level mathematics courses to ensure consistent learning outcomes and instructional quality.
• Partner with local K‑12 schools to assess readiness and create bridge programs for incoming students.
• Teach entry‑level math courses, mentor new instructors and pilot innovative instructional technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or related field (Master’s or Doctorate preferred).
• Six years of experience in math education, academic support or faculty development (or equivalent experience with advanced degree).
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in academic or student‑support settings.
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to student success.
