Assistant Controller – Private Equity Funds

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of private equity funds, co‑investment structures, and continuation vehicles in Boston. The role is central to fund accounting, financial reporting, and operational oversight, partnering with internal teams and external service providers.

Key responsibilities

• Direct accounting and reporting activities for private equity funds, co‑investment vehicles, and continuation funds, including year‑end audit readiness.
• Supervise external fund administrators by reviewing ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, close processes, trial balances, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare quarterly and annual fund financial statements, capital account reporting, and related schedules for partners and stakeholders.
• Lead capital calls, cash distributions, reserve activity, and investor reporting with precision and timeliness.
• Monitor compliance with partnership terms, internal accounting policies, and reporting obligations.
• Support treasury and transaction‑related finance activities tied to acquisitions, exits, and restructurings.
• Coordinate with tax professionals to provide accurate information for tax reporting.
• Strengthen accounting controls, maintain documentation, and respond to investors, auditors, and internal partners.
• Identify and implement reporting enhancements, workflow automation, and analytics solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 6‑8+ years of accounting experience (public and private mix preferred); CPA required.
• Strong command of general ledger management, month‑end close, and financial reporting.
• Experience preparing audited financial statements and working closely with external auditors.
• Knowledge of partnership accounting principles and private‑equity fund structures.
• Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with fund‑accounting platforms and reporting systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong analytical judgment and effective communication.
