Assistant Controller

About the role

The Assistant Controller will work directly with the Controller to translate accounting policies into daily processes, ensuring the integrity of the general ledger, revenue accounting, and month‑end close. This senior‑level position leads the accounting team, partners with Treasury, HR, and Product/Engineering, and supports accurate financial reporting as the company scales.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the accounting team, prioritizing workload and providing technical guidance.
• Own the month‑end close calendar, including bank uploads, payroll, expense coding, asset amortization, accruals, reconciliations and journal entry review.
• Maintain a documented, audit‑ready general ledger with clear ownership for each account.
• Oversee balance‑sheet reconciliations across cash, prepaid, accrued expenses, fixed assets, intangibles, intercompany and clearing accounts.
• Resolve complex reconciling items and discrepancies between NetSuite, payment processors, trading platforms and bank data.
• Manage revenue recognition for subscriptions, promotions, chargebacks and refunds, ensuring consistent application of ASC 606.
• Maintain and improve the chart of accounts and account mapping in collaboration with FP&A.

Required profile

• Strong technical accounting expertise with experience in high‑volume, complex data environments.
• Proven leadership and team‑management skills, able to coach and hold team members accountable.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with Treasury, HR, Product and Engineering.
• Sound judgment to identify and escalate accounting issues to senior leadership.
