Assistant Clinical Professor, Counseling

About the role

The Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology seeks a non‑tenure‑track Assistant Clinical Professor of Counseling to begin as early as Spring 2027. The role centers on directing the on‑campus counseling and training clinic while supporting community outreach, teaching, advising, and program development.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as director of the department’s on‑campus counseling and training clinic.
• Engage in community outreach initiatives.
• Teach practicum/internship courses and advise students.
• Participate in program development and curriculum planning.

Required profile

• Doctorate in counselor education.
• Licensure or licensure‑eligibility as a Texas professional counselor (LPC) or marriage and family therapist (LMFT) at time of employment.
• Three or more years of post‑graduate professional counseling experience.
• Clinical supervision experience.
• Professional identity and training in one of the department’s counseling specialty areas.
• Experience with community engagement and outreach initiatives.

Preferred qualifications

• Doctorate from a CACREP‑accredited program.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Experience attracting extramural funding.
• Membership and involvement in professional counseling organizations.
• Graduate teaching experience.
• Credentialed as an LPC‑supervisor.
• Experience working with varied student populations.
