Armed Security Officer - PRN

About the role

The Armed Security Officer provides a safe environment for patients, guests, and employees at Ochsner Health facilities. This PRN (as‑needed) position requires vigilance, professionalism, and the ability to respond quickly to security incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce all company safety and security policies on the premises.
• Conduct routine inspections of on‑site and off‑site locations, including interior and exterior areas.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, documenting findings promptly.
• Perform opening, lockdown, and other building security procedures as directed.
• Participate in emergency response drills and disaster preparedness activities.
• Maintain required certifications and complete all mandated training within specified timeframes.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in security, law enforcement, or the military.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record.
• Ability to walk continuously throughout the facility, including stairs in an 11‑floor building.
• Eligibility to work as essential personnel during disasters.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) training.
• Firearms training and certification.
• Proficiency with Windows‑based computer applications and data entry.
• Effective verbal and written communication in English.
