Armed Security Officer - Hospital, Part-Time

About the role

Allied Universal, a security and facility services company, is hiring a part-time Armed Security Officer for a hospital in Suffern, NY. The position offers fixed, reliable hours at an assigned site with the option to pick up extra shifts through a claim-a-shift program, building toward a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week. The pay rate is $27.50 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff and vendors while carrying out security procedures, site policies and emergency response activities.
• Carry out regular and random patrols of the healthcare facility grounds, entrances, parking areas and perimeter to spot and report unusual conditions.
• Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, alarms and critical situations, following site protocols.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, reporting unauthorized access or concerning behaviour.
• Document incidents, observations and patrol activities and share relevant information with the right people.

Required profile

• Prior law enforcement experience.
• An armed guard card or license and a law enforcement officer license.
• At least 21 years old for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation and a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements depend on state and local laws and may be required before employment.

Required skills

• Comfort using a computer or tablet (preferred).
• Customer service experience (preferred).
• Valid driver's license required only for driving positions.
