Arabic Interpreter

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a qualified Arabic Interpreter to provide accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation services for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and their service providers. The role supports a variety of settings, including clinics, hospitals, schools, community organizations, and government agencies, both in‑person and remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver precise interpretation for Arabic‑speaking clients across multiple environments (clinic, hospital, school, community, government).
• Provide interpretation via in‑person, telephone, video‑conference, or other virtual platforms.
• Track assignments and work hours using designated software.
• Participate in training sessions and competency assessments.
• Assist with special projects and initiatives as needed.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Interpreter Coordinator.

Required profile

• High school diploma (strongly preferred) and interpretation certification (preferred).
• Relevant professional interpretation experience, especially with refugee or immigrant populations.
• Fluent spoken Arabic (Levantine, Maghrebi, Egyptian, Sudanese dialects preferred) and strong English proficiency.
• Cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust with diverse clients.
• Reliable transportation for field appointments.

Required skills

• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
