About the role
Join the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR) as an Applications Developer II. You will work on enhancing and maintaining mission‑critical applications that support South Carolina’s safety initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Complete approved modifications to functionality and user experience using standard analysis and design techniques.
- Migrate system changes following internal standards and change control procedures.
- Participate in the code review process for all deployed changes.
- Test and debug new or existing applications, coordinating external testing with system owners.
- Design, implement, and maintain data‑driven applications using Microsoft .NET (C#).
- Create responsive graphical user interfaces using JavaScript, CSS, SASS, LESS and graphic editing tools.
- Perform system maintenance and troubleshoot software service tickets.
- Test system modifications, communicate changes to users, and monitor performance metrics.
Required profile
- High school diploma with relevant work experience, or an associate/bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Three years (or five years with a high‑school diploma) of experience in computer system development, modification, maintenance, or programming.
- Knowledge of system analysis, design, testing, debugging, and maintenance techniques.
- Ability to prepare clear technical reports and work effectively with users, vendors, and staff.
- Ability to plan, direct, and review the work of technical personnel.
Required skills
- C# programming language
- Microsoft .NET Framework
- SQL and MSSQL database design and querying
- JavaScript and jQuery
- HTML5 and CSS3 (including SASS and LESS)
- Responsive web design principles
- Object‑Oriented Programming concepts
- XML markup language
- Familiarity with graphical editing tools
