Application Engineering Specialist – Industrial Adhesives & Tapes

About the role

The Application Engineering Specialist will join 3M’s Industrial Adhesives & Tapes Division to drive product penetration and develop new bonding solutions for industrial customers. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams and customers worldwide, translating market needs into technical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Promote core and new structural adhesive products to win bonding applications in the industrial market.
• Develop customized application solutions that meet specific customer requirements.
• Lead voice‑of‑customer activities to support new product development programs.
• Identify emerging market trends and communicate future product needs for structural adhesives.
• Support the creation and maintenance of a database for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) calculations of adhesives.
• Design and deliver demonstration tools and training for customers, sales representatives, and international colleagues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline.
• At least four years of laboratory experience in a private, public, government or military setting.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Experience working with adhesives (minimum two years preferred).

Required skills

• Adhesive testing methods.
• Quality systems related to adhesive products.
• Adhesive dispensing and automation equipment.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural adhesives.
