Antenna Engineering Intern – Fall 2026

About the role

tacit is an early‑stage deep‑tech startup developing innovative hardware for human‑computer interaction. We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student to join us for a Fall 2026 internship focused on wireless sensing hardware and advanced antenna systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evaluate antennas based on wireless link‑budget requirements, balancing performance trade‑offs.
• Run computational electromagnetic simulations using full‑wave EM software and develop custom simulation models.
• Analyze simulation results and recommend design improvements.
• Build mock‑ups, test fixtures, and automation solutions for antenna development and testing.
• Assist with PCB layout, DFM reviews, and mass‑production readiness.
• Integrate antennas into device form‑factors in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
• Characterize antennas from prototype to mass production, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulatory limits.
• Support sensor calibration, hardware optimization for low‑noise, high‑resolution signal detection, and documentation of experiments.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with a focus on antennas or computational electromagnetics.
• Strong theoretical and practical understanding of antenna theory, electromagnetic wave propagation, and basic microwave engineering concepts.

Required skills

• Full‑wave EM simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, CST).
• Antenna design and analysis.
• PCB layout and DFM review processes.
• Sensor calibration and hardware system optimization.
