AN/BYG-1 Submarine Combat Control System Technician

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Mid-to-Senior AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System Technician to support the US Navy's submarine fleet in Newport News, VA. The position is full-time and offers hands-on support to sophisticated naval equipment. It is an hourly, overtime-eligible position under the Service Contract Act (SCA), and transitioning military and veteran Fire Control Technicians are encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with test and evaluation and perform validations and verifications of AN/BYG-1 systems
• Assist in accomplishing Engineering Change Instructions (ECI)
• Develop technical and engineering data for planned maintenance systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures and maintainability improvements
• Support systems engineering activities with subject matter expertise
• Interface directly with the on-site customer for equipment and systems installation, testing, survey, fabrication and other engineering tasks
• Comply with engineering documentation standards, plans and specifications, and review change proposals for equipment impacts

Required profile

• Active Secret US Government clearance (US citizenship required to maintain it)
• Mid-level: high school diploma/GED and 5 years of practical experience, or a degree/electronics training with 3 years of practical experience
• Senior-level: high school diploma/GED and 10 years of practical experience, or a degree/electronics training with 6 years of practical experience
• Pass the Submarine Embarkation Medical screening
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Required skills

• Hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting and repairing networking equipment and Windows servers and workstations
• Desired: US military systems/network experience, direct AN/BYG-1 combat systems experience, and Fire Control Technician "A" School
