Aircraft Mechanic II (Sheetmetal)

About the role

Amentum is hiring an Aircraft Mechanic II (Sheetmetal) to inspect, evaluate damage and repair assigned and transient aircraft and support equipment, and to carry out advanced aircraft composite repairs. The position requires day, swing, night and/or weekend shifts, travel including TDYs, and a Secret security clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, evaluate damage and repair aircraft and support equipment using maintenance instructions, drawings and blueprints
• Operate ground support equipment and use hand tools, special tools, fixtures and adhesives
• Evaluate, design and manufacture logistics improvement projects, and build structural components, cables and tubing assemblies
• Perform on- and off-equipment maintenance, including advanced composite repairs and corrosion inspections
• Evaluate aircraft and equipment for paint requirements, remove and treat corrosion and apply protective coatings
• Coordinate maintenance with Production Supervisors and the Maintenance Operations Coordination Center
• Document discrepancies and enter data into the Maintenance Information System
• Ensure compliance with safety, housekeeping, tool control and FOD prevention programs

Required profile

• Working knowledge of aircraft structural repair procedures and corrosion control techniques
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, and to read and interpret data
• Completion of specialized courses in aircraft structural repair
• High school education or GED equivalent
• FAA Airframe license and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (US citizenship required)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver's license
• Physical ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs occasionally; occupational physical required
• Three years of recent structural experience desired
