Aircraft Mechanic - Customs and Border Protection

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an Aircraft Mechanic for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The CBP Aircraft Mechanic performs maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection and aircraft servicing on assigned aircraft within an aircraft maintenance and operations environment, in line with applicable instructions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, repair and modify aircraft according to 14 CFR, DoD regulations, technical manuals and other data
• Perform daily and turnaround inspections on all assigned aircraft
• Inspect, control corrosion, troubleshoot and isolate faults on aircraft systems
• Fly on government aircraft for relocation, in-flight checks and troubleshooting that cannot be done on the ground
• Travel to temporary duty sites inside and outside the United States
• Furnish own hand tools; special tools and test equipment are provided by the customer
• Handle hazardous waste according to base, federal and company procedures

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent from an accredited program
• Valid FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings
• Valid State driver's license and willingness to undergo random drug tests
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
• Reliable, good judgment, able to meet deadlines and follow English-language instructions
• Physical ability to stand, squat, sit, work with arms overhead, lift up to 50 lbs, and possibly wear a respirator or ear protection

Required skills

• Repair and maintenance of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including airframes, structures, hydraulics, fuel and electrical systems and engines
• Troubleshooting and reading schematics, blueprints, technical manuals and directives
• Preferred: at least two years of experience with rotary-wing aircraft; UH-60 Blackhawk experience highly desired
