Aircraft Mechanic - Customs and Border Protection

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an Aircraft Mechanic for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The CBP Aircraft Mechanic maintains and repairs aircraft structures and components of moderate difficulty, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical parts.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily, flight-line and hangar maintenance on assigned aircraft
• Inspect, control corrosion, troubleshoot and isolate faults in aircraft systems
• Use technical documentation such as blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to diagnose and fix moderate to complex problems
• Furnish own hand tools; special tools and test equipment are provided by Customs
• Occasionally lead teams on complex tasks, make entries in aircraft logs and records, and prioritize workload schedules
• Periodically travel in support of the customer's mission

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current airframe and power plant (A&P) mechanic certificate
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP background investigation suitability clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
• Competent in repairing airframes, hydraulics, fuel systems and aircraft engines
• Knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural repair, military and general aviation logbooks, electrical theory and aircraft tools
• Proficiency in English and ability to read, write and interpret data
• Physical ability to stand, squat, sit, walk and lift up to 50 lbs; may work in noisy areas with ear protection
• Preferred: full-time aircraft mechanic employment in the last 12 months and 3-5 years of experience

• Following base, federal and company procedures for hazardous waste
