Aircraft Mechanic (CBP)

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an Aircraft Mechanic for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The CBP Aircraft Mechanic maintains and repairs aircraft structures and components of moderate difficulty, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical parts. The position is paid at an hourly rate of $37.96, plus hardship pay up to 40 hours.

Key responsibilities

• Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition or operation
• Solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints and manufacturers' manuals
• Perform daily, flight-line and hangar maintenance on assigned aircraft
• Carry out inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting and fault isolation on aircraft systems
• Furnish own hand tools; special tools and test equipment are provided by Customs
• Occasionally lead teams on more complex aircraft tasks, make entries in aircraft logs and records, and prioritize workload schedules
• Periodically travel in support of customers' missions

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current airframe and power plant (A&P) mechanic license
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability Clearance (US citizenship required)
• Competence in repairing airframes, hydraulics, fuel systems and aircraft engines, and knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural repair
• Knowledge of military and general aviation aircraft logbooks, basic electrical theory, aircraft tools and technical publications
• Proficiency in Office software, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
• Physical ability to stand, squat, sit, walk and lift up to 50 lbs, and to work in noisy areas with ear protection
• Preferred: 3-5 years of full-time aircraft mechanic experience and an FAA Inspection Authorization
