Aircraft Mechanic (CBP)

About the role

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic performs maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection and aircraft servicing on assigned aircraft within an aircraft maintenance and operations environment, in line with applicable instructions. The position is hourly and overtime-eligible, under the Service Contract Act.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, repair and modify aircraft according to 14 CFR, DoD regulations, technical manuals and other data
• Perform daily and turnaround inspections on all assigned aircraft
• Inspect, control corrosion, troubleshoot and isolate faults in aircraft systems
• Fly on Government aircraft for relocation, in-flight checks and troubleshooting that cannot be done on the ground
• Travel to temporary duty sites inside and outside the United States, and occasionally travel to support customers' missions
• Furnish own hand tools; special tools and test equipment are provided by the customer

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent, and a valid FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings
• Valid State driver's license, willingness to undergo random drug tests, and CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance (US citizenship required)
• Competent in repair and maintenance of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including airframes, structures, hydraulics, fuel, electrical systems and engines
• Able to read schematics, blueprints and technical manuals, and to handle hazardous waste per base, federal and company procedures
• Physical ability to stand, squat, sit, work with arms overhead, lift up to 50 lbs, and possibly wear a respirator or ear protection
• Preferred: at least two years of rotary-wing experience, UH-60 Blackhawk experience highly desired
