Aircraft Mechanic (CBP)

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an Aircraft Mechanic for a CBP position. The mechanic maintains and repairs aircraft structures and components of moderate difficulty, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical parts. It is an hourly, overtime-eligible position under the Service Contract Act.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily, flight-line and hangar maintenance on assigned aircraft
• Inspect, troubleshoot and isolate faults, and carry out corrosion control
• Use technical documentation such as blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to diagnose and fix moderate to complex problems
• Furnish own hand tools; special tools and test equipment are provided by Customs
• Occasionally lead teams on complex tasks, make entries in aircraft logs and records, and prioritize workload schedules
• Travel periodically to support customers' missions

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current FAA airframe and power plant (A&P) mechanic license
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability Clearance (US citizenship required)
• Competent in repairing airframes, hydraulics, fuel systems and aircraft engines, with knowledge of military and general aviation logbooks
• Basic knowledge of electrical theory and thorough knowledge of aircraft tools such as torque wrenches, dial indicators and micrometers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
• Physical ability to stand, squat, sit, walk and lift up to 50 lbs, and to work in noisy areas with ear protection
• Preferred: 3-5 years of full-time aircraft mechanic experience and an FAA Inspection Authorization
