About the role
The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program of AAR is seeking an experienced Aircraft Mechanic (TCN) to maintain and repair aircraft, engines, and associated systems to ensure airworthiness for the US Department of State Air Wing.
Key responsibilities
- Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures such as cowlings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulic units.
- Read and interpret manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and related documentation to determine repair methods and airworthiness.
- Inspect, repair, and replace engine components, and perform engine removal and installation.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical wiring and associated components.
- Service aircraft hydraulic systems, replenish engine oil, lubricate systems, and conduct fueling operations.
- Coordinate with maintenance control, customers, and manufacturers on airworthiness and operational readiness issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current FAA‑issued Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate or national equivalent, exercised for at least 6 months in the past 24 months.
- Prior experience maintaining Bell 212 and UH‑60 aircraft.
- Familiarity with U.S. Army Manual 95‑1, DA‑DOS PAM 738‑750‑751, or U.S. Air Force Technical Orders, and applicable FAR Part 135 provisions.
- Ability to work from blueprints, diagrams, specifications, service manuals, and sketches.
Required skills
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
- Maintenance of Bell 212 and UH‑60 helicopters.
- Aircraft structural repair (cowlings, fuselage, rigging, hydraulic units).
- Engine inspection, overhaul, removal, and installation.
- Electrical wiring troubleshooting and repair.
- Hydraulic system servicing and lubrication.
- Use of hand tools, power tools, sheet‑metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
- Interpretation of maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and technical orders.
