AI Research Engineer – Molecular Design

About the role

We are seeking an AI Research Engineer to design, train, evaluate, and optimize Chai’s core models, working closely with research scientists. The role pushes AI drug design beyond protein structure prediction into real‑world therapeutic engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize compute and data systems that underpin our research.
• Build, run, and continuously improve evaluations and data sources to enhance methodological rigor.
• Collaborate with AI researchers to execute experiments and explore new research directions.

Required profile

• Background in high‑performance computing, custom CUDA kernels, and GPU programming.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Python and deep‑learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Deep understanding of operating system internals.
• Experience with HPC infrastructure like Slurm and Kubernetes.
• Experience in performance engineering and profiling for CPU and GPU workloads.
• Experience building and maintaining large‑scale ETL pipelines.
