AI Engineer

About the role

Paysend is seeking forward‑thinking AI Engineers to pioneer AI‑driven engineering. You will work hands‑on with Claude Code and the Anthropic API to design, harden, and ship agentic systems that write, review, test, and deploy code, directly empowering global engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design end‑to‑end AI‑assisted delivery workflows, defining agent responsibilities, execution boundaries, decision points, human intervention, and failure handling.
• Build and optimise agentic pipelines using Claude Code, Anthropic API, custom tooling, MCP server integrations, and stateful orchestration logic.
• Engineer robust prompts, benchmark suites, and automated evaluation datasets; measure and improve pipeline accuracy, latency, and API costs.
• Integrate core Anthropic capabilities (tool use, structured outputs, prompt caching, batch processing) into internal developer platforms.
• Own production systems: sandboxed execution, strict error handling, retries, observability, guardrails, and edge‑case management.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering background with experience designing, building, and operating production systems.
• Hands‑on experience with Python or TypeScript.
• Direct experience using Claude Code beyond casual experimentation.
• Experience building with LLM APIs, including prompt engineering, tool/function calling, and agentic loops.
• Ability to turn prototypes into production‑ready CI/CD‑integrated, containerised, reliable systems.
